The Whirlwind is a hostile, roaming tornado that flings players and mobs high into the air, and comes in several color variants depending on the biome.
Behavior
The Whirlwind is a hostile mob that wanders the surface as a moving column of wind. Instead of dealing conventional damage, it launches any player or mob that touches it violently upward, hurling them into the air.
The three color variants throw with different force. The white variant is the common form across most biomes and launches targets a standard height. The gray variant is a rare form that can appear in any biome and launches targets the highest of the three. The pink variant is the desert-specific form and launches targets at the same height as the white variant.
Whirlwinds are immune to all damage and despawn after a time rather than being defeated.
A player can capture one using a glass bottle. Their color is set by the biome they spawn in: white or gray in the chaparral, cliffs, mountains, and plains, and pink or gray in the desert, with gray being the uncommon result in each case.
Spawning
The Whirlwind spawns on the surface, with color variants determined by biome. It appears in:
Aether Cliffs
Aether Chaparral
Aether Plains
Aether Desert
Drops
The Whirlwind drops nothing when it despawns. Instead, a player can interact with it while holding a Glass Bottle to capture it as a Bottled Whirlwind.
