The Watcher is an eerie, invisible sentinel that stalks players who have wronged the Ancient Souls, appearing as a distant, unblinking presence.
Behavior
The Watcher is summoned as a punishment for mistreating Ancient Souls, and only the offending player can see it.
It comes in two forms. In its watching form, it fades in at a distance and simply stares; if the player looks directly at it, moves too close, or strays too far, it fades away and vanishes. In its aggressive form, spawned when a player's standing with the Ancients sinks very low, it relentlessly pursues the player, inflicting Darkness and screen shake, teleporting to stay in front of them so they cannot flee. Once it closes in, it locks the player in place and kills them, after which the player's Ancient standing is reset. The Watcher itself is invulnerable.
Spawning
The Watcher is not spawned naturally or from spawn eggs in normal play; it is summoned by the Ancient Souls standing system when a player's standing falls too low.
Summoned by the Ancient Souls standing system in the Aether
Drops
The Watcher drops nothing. It cannot be killed and simply fades away and despawns when its encounter ends.
