Slider

The Slider is a floating cube-shaped guardian, one of three Aether Bosses, that is defeated by destroying all four of its glowing eyes.

Behavior

The Slider carries a single glowing eye on each of its four vertical faces, and all four must be destroyed to defeat it. Each eye takes 8 hits, for 32 across the whole boss. Projectiles only damage the eye currently facing the attacker, so ranged fighters have to keep circling to line up an exposed eye, while melee hits land on whichever eye is being struck and can be worked down from any angle. Each time an eye is destroyed, the Slider slides off to a far corner of the arena, at least 10 blocks away, before re-engaging, so players must chase it down and reposition for the next eye.
The Slider glides across the floor, ignoring knockback and fire and grinding through blocks in its way. It usually locks onto the nearest player and chases them down with a body slam, constantly re-pathing to follow as they dodge. The slam deals 2 damage and applies strong knockback, which can fling a target into a wall or into a Sentry's line of fire. It won't start a chase if another player is already within 5 blocks of its target, and it breaks off pursuit once its target moves 10 or more blocks away. Occasionally it patrols a fixed rectangular loop instead, ignoring players, though contact still deals the same 2 damage.
The Slider's signature attack is a falling-block barrage. It moves up to the ceiling and rains debris in expanding rings that radiate up to 16 blocks out from beneath it. Each block deals 8 damage with no knockback, so players need to move clear of the rings as they spread.
The fight also involves Tile Sentry minions: flat, near-invisible guardians embedded flush in the arena walls at three fixed points to the north, east, and west. They fire projectiles for 4 damage each and cannot be avoided by standing still, but they disappear the moment the fight ends or resets.

Summoning & Arena

The Slider sits dormant in its sealed arena inside the
Slider Dungeon
. The first fight requires no cost: striking the dormant boss wakes it, and the arena door closes behind the player. It stays sealed until the Slider is defeated or every player inside is killed, which resets the encounter.
Once beaten, the boss enters a 10-minute cooldown, after which it can only be woken again by interacting with it while holding an Ancient Relic.

Drops

Every Slider drops Ancient Plate ×16 on defeat (100%), and has a 33% chance to also drop the Ancient Shield.
